Collector tips

1:12 is the universal standard. If you're just starting out or shopping for a dollhouse, nearly all commercially available miniature furniture is made in 1:12 scale. It's always your safest default.
Fractions matter. Your ruler shows fractions, not decimals — so 0.667 inches is actually 10⁄16″ (or ⅔″). This converter shows the nearest usable fraction to help you mark and cut accurately.
Art dolls often use 1:6. If you're scaling props or furniture for an art doll, 1:6 (Barbie scale) is typically the right starting point. A 6-foot person becomes exactly 12 inches.
When scales conflict — if a piece looks slightly off next to your collection, measure the door height of your existing dollhouse. Standard door = 84″ real life. Divide your door's miniature height by 84 to find the exact scale of your house.
